As the end of 2022 approaches and many people continue to focus on the holiday season, hackers continue to work non-stop. Hackers stole $8 million from BitKeep Wallet as a result of a cyberattack.
BitKeep users, a multi-chain crypto wallet, reported that their funds were drained and transferred even though they did not take any action on their wallets on December 26. In the platform’s official Telegram group, the BitKeep team has confirmed that some APK file format downloads have been hijacked by hackers. The BitKeep team also made the following statements:
“If your assets were stolen, it could be due to an unknown version you downloaded or updated. So it could be an unofficial version.”
However, the cyber attack against BitKeep still continues. The BitKeep team also warned users to transfer their wallets from official sources such as Google Pay or Apple App Store. Besides that, the BitKeep team invited community members to open a new wallet account as their previous wallet account was hacked. To assist with the investigation, the BitKeep team has asked affected users to submit a Google form in which they provide relevant materials.

As it is known, BitKeep suffered a $1 million cyberattack last October. In the said cyber attack, only the BNB token was stolen. The attack was carried out through a service that enabled token swaps. On top of that, BitKeep suspended the service and assured that it would reimburse investors who lost their funds.
