The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has requested that the famous Hinman Speech documents be disabled on the grounds that they are not related to the court order.
to the SEC In his Summarized Decision Request submitted on December 22, he requested that certain information and documents be closed, including the Hinman Speech documents.
The Hinman Speech documents refer to a speech given by William Hinman, a former SEC executive, at the Yahoo Finance All Markets Summit in June 2018. In the talk, Hinman states that Ether (ETH), the token of the Ethereum blockchain, is not a security.
Ripple believes this speech is critical evidence for it to win the lawsuit against the regulator.
In its latest request, the SEC argued that its mission preceded the public’s right to access documents that had “no relation” to the court order.
The organizer also requested that the Hinman documents be removed from the evidence presented by the defendants.
This request from the SEC was met with backlash in the crypto community. One user questioned whether SEC Chairman Gary Gensler had a hidden agenda.
Anyone else wonder what Gary Gensler and the SEC are hiding?

With the request, the SEC’s expert reports, statements of XRP investors, and documents reflecting discussions between SEC officials were also requested to be hidden.
No surprise the SEC wants to keep the Hinman emails/docs redacted. At this point, given J. Torres ‘rulings to date (including each position that the emails are likely only relevant for impeachment), I predict she probably rules to keep them redacted. Sad, but not unreasonable.
