Watch maker TAG Heuer is partnering with the popular NFT community, including Bored Ape Yacht Club and CLONE-X, to create a smartwatch that connects to crypto wallets like MetaMask and Ledger Live as well as viewing NFTs founded.
The company has announced that the TAG Heuer Connected Caliber E4 functionality will be simple and the NFTs will also be transmitted via a paired smartphone. More than one NFT can be transferred at the same time to the device that will support static and moving NFT drawings. TAG Heuer also stated that NFT drawings can be resized and inserted into three designs available within the hour.
TAG Heuer summarized in a blog post how it handles NFT drawing and imaging, along with the capabilities of the smartwatch:
“Some NFTs are still images and some are animated GIFs. TAG Heuer’s watch face will support these formats in vivid detail with endlessly looping animations.”
The smartwatch will also have the ability to connect to the blockchain and verify user-owned NFTs. TAG Heuer explained this feature in their announcement: “Verified NFTs are displayed in a hexagon with a cloud of particles orbiting the image.”
This new NFT functionality will be available as a free update to all Tag Heuer Caliber E4 owners via the Apple App Store and Google Play.
TAG Heuer continues to grow in the Web3 space with a team of in-house developers for blockchain-related projects. TAG Heuer announced in May that it has partnered with BitPay to begin accepting payments in eleven cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC) and various US dollar stablecoins. Also, the fact that brands like Bulgari, Jacob & Co have launched their products in recent months shows that NFT watches are not entirely new.
After the massive growth of NFTs in 2021, individual sales soared to tens of millions of dollars. Despite the recent general market conditions and prices, NFT sales continue to maintain their strong position.
