The collapse of FTX did not break the unity of the crypto community

Istanbul Blockchain Week opened its doors on November 14 to bring together the crypto and blockchain ecosystem in Istanbul. Cointelegraph also attended the event with the Cointelegraph Turkey booth and an editor living in Istanbul to experience first-hand the effects of FTX’s bankruptcy. The result was unexpected.

Istanbul, an international center with a population of over 15 million, was shaken by a bomb that exploded in Taksim on the evening of 13 November. Still, Istanbul Blockchain Week (IBW) opened its doors to more than 2,000 attendees from around the world, with over 100 speakers the day after local security forces were consulted.

Participants in IBW 2022 have had to deal with a year-long bear market and the emotional stress of the terrorist attack on top of the collapse of FTX. Both events were on the agenda of both the main stage and the event hall.

Erhan Korhaliller, the organizer of the event and the Founder of EAK Digital, talked about both issues in his opening speech. Except for those who landed in Istanbul only hours before their time to speak, most of the speakers started their speeches by offering condolences to the victims of terrorism.

Istanbul Blockchain Week 2022 also managed to maintain the balance between respect for worried Istanbulites and the fun side of the event. There was nothing extravagant, but the atmosphere was lively and colourful. During the four days of the event, key figures in the crypto industry took the stage one after the other in front of the speakers who were listening to them in full focus.

Cointelegraph Turkey made a big splash at IBW 2022 with the booth of the Kriptomeda team.

The event space was divided into three parts. Outside the main stage was an NFT Gallery and the IstanHack hall where developers competed to create a Web3 project.

There was no point of the crypto universe that was not mentioned in the event agenda. Market makers, exchanges, decentralized finance (DeFi) providers, big names in the blockchain gaming and metaverse space took the stage to offer a comprehensive view of what’s going on in the crypto world.

What stood out throughout the event was positivity and the philosophy of “continue to improve”. It wasn’t hard to see that the ecosystem really believed in improvement in the bear market.

Participating in the event, the Cointelegraph team interviewed some of the speakers at the Cointelegraph Turkey booth. Most of the interviews were conducted by CT Turkey. on YouTube channel It was published. Cointelegraph Editor Erhan Kahraman also had the chance to speak with Elixxir CEO David Chaum and HashEx CEO Dmitry Mishunin. Both interviews will be published on Cointelegraph.
